Forum to review latest scientific feats in skin diseases treatment
7th dermatology forum being held under auspices of health minister
KUWAIT CITY, April 27, (KUNA): Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Medical Services Affairs Dr Jamal Al-Harbi inaugurated the seventh annual dermatology forum on Tuesday.
The three-day annual gathering, being held under auspices of Minister of Health Dr Ali Al-Obaidi, provides a platform for local and foreign experts to discuss 18 researches on the latest developments in this specialty, Dr Al-Harbi said.
“They will review the latest scientific and technological achievements in the treatment of skin diseases, including the applications of phototherapy and laser therapy,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the opening ceremony.
“The participants will also discuss the ways of training the cosmetic dermatologists in the use of botox injections and wrinkle fillers.
“During their stay here, the global experts will visit the dermatology and venereology departments to inspect the patients and share experience with the local dermatologists,” he pointed out.
“The Ministry of Health has introduced a small highly-effective multipurpose laser appliance which is very helpful in the early detection of skin cancer; the appliance is now available at the primary health centers and hospitals of the Ministry,” Dr Al-Harbi revealed.
The forum is co-organized by the Ministry and the board of dermatology and venereology departments, he said, noting that the organizing committee is keen on holding this annual event regularly in keeping with the strategy of the Ministry for improving the health services.
On his part, Dr Mohammad Fayhan Al-Otaibi, the general coordinator of the forum, said the successful holding of the event over the last seven years made it the largest forum in the Middle East in this specialty.
“The forum has established a good regional reputation thanks to its indepth scientific agenda, including the sideline workshops and training courses, which keep abreast with the world’s latest achievements in this domain,” he affirmed.
Dr Al-Otaibi thanked the Minister of Health Dr Al-Obaidi for his patronage of the event which “reflects the keenness of the Ministry on building the capacity of the medical personnel.
He added that the participants in the forum will be granted 24 credit-hours of the continuing medical education (CME) from Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialization (KIMS).
