‘Security measures in place’
Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs in the Ministry of Interior Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah disclosed that Ministry of Interior has taken all necessary security and precautionary measures for the Holy Month of Ramadan.
He explained a security team was formed with officers from all operations departments affiliated to the Public Security Directorate in all governorate to enforce security across the country, especially in places that witness large crowds such as commercial complexes, parks and beaches, in coordination with General Traffic Department, to ensure smooth flow of traffic and avoid congestion.
The step was taken upon instructions from Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and his Undersecretary Lieutenant General Sulaiman Fahd Al-Fahd.
Meanwhile, Major General Al-Tarah called on citizens and expatriates to observe the customs and values connected to the holy month and respect the feelings of Muslims fasting by avoiding the consumption of food in public before dusk. He also reminded highly regarded citizens and expatriates of Law No. 44 /1968 that penalizes by fine not below KD 100 and jail term not exceeding one month or one of the two punishments for people caught eating in public in the day during Ramadan.
