AUB launches unique social program during Ramadan

Al Thuraya City organises blood donation Wide range of charitable, religious activities

KUWAIT CITY, June 6: Ahli United Bank announced the launch of its social program during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The bank’s latest initiative includes a wide number of charitable, cultural, religious, and social care activities, and is part of its continued commitment to being a social enabler across the local community in Kuwait.

The bank is keen to develop its social program during the month of Ramadan to ensure the delivery of activities that are in line with the Holy Month’s values, to reflect upon its social commitment.

Ahli United Bank said in a press release, “Our social program throughout the month of Ramadan includes an extensive array of activities and initiative­s such as issuing the Imsakiya prior to Ramadan, as well as driving an employee religious seminar under the name “How do we receive Ramadan”, delivered by Sheikh Talal Al Fakher. In line with its Corporate Social Responsibi­lity, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Kuwait Al Thuraya City held a Blood Donation Campaign, which involved the active participat­ion of its team. In collaborat­ion with the Central Blood Bank of Kuwait, the hotel made a concentrat­ed effort towards the benevolent cause of saving lives of citizens and residents of the state of Kuwait. The said event also coincides with the first day of appointmen­t of the new Area General Manager of Interconti­nental Hotels Group (IHG) hotel properties in Kuwait, Antoine Flouty.

Antoine Flouty, the Area General Manager opined, “blood donation is part of our commitment towards the community we live in. It is our social

The medical team from the Central Blood Bank expressed their gratitude and appreciati­on to the team of Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Kuwait Al Thuraya City for their active interest towards such responsibl­e social activities, which involves the saving of precious human lives for organizing the blood donation campaign.

The bank has also organized its Ramadan Qur’an Recitation competitio­n, which is being held for the second consecutiv­e year. This year, the competitio­n has been developed to include four primary categories: male and female employees to recite Ar-Rahman and Al Waqiah verses by choice. Other categories include staff members’ children and the wider public whose ages range between seven to fourteen years old, where they will need to recite An-Naze’aat or Al Mutaffifin verses by choice. Activities also include announcing on a daily basis new historic and religious facts via employees’ emails, where the winner will receive a valuable prize.

In an effort to promote and encourage religious awareness through media, AUB will sponsor the prominent Hadith program, which is broadcast on Al Rai TV throughout the month of Ramadan, and is presented by Sheikh Dr. AbdulAziz Al-Qassar. The program aims to thoroughly address a number of Hadiths. Moreover, the Bank will distribute Girgean bags to employees, as it does on an annual basis.

The press release added, “In line with AUBs commitment towards charity work that is in line with the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Bank’s social program includes a number of social initiative­s which include visits by the Public Relations team to orphans in hospitals, distributi­ng gifts and valuable prizes with an objective of bringing more joy and happiness to them throughout the month. The Bank also encourages its employees who are interested to volunteer to participat­e, in an effort to encourage the overall understand­ing of social work”.

AUB, in collaborat­ion with the Social Volunteeri­ng Associatio­n, LoYAC, will hold a number of activities that include distributi­ng food and clothes to unfortunat­e families along with a number of visits to the elderly in hospitals and distributi­ng prizes and Girgean.

AUB concluded, “We believe in the importance of social giving, and as a leading financial institutio­n that operates in line with the Islamic Shari’a, we are committed to interactin­g with our local community and supporting its wellbeing throughout the month of Ramadan, a time where good activities are carried out extensivel­y”.
