Expat accuses Arab wife of marriage without ‘divorce’

Agencies KUWAIT CITY, July 27: An Indian expatriate was arrested in Fahaheel area in possession of 12 bottles of locally manufactured liquor.

According to security sources, Ahmadi securitymen were patrolling Fahaheel area at night when they suspected a vehicle and stopped it for checking. They checked the civil ID of the motorist to discover he is an Indian expatriate. They checked the trunk of his vehicle to find 12 bottles of locally manufactured liquor.
He was arrested and referred with the liquor bottles to the concerned authorities for further investigations.
‘Mom not divorced’:
Securitymen are conducting investigations on a complaint filed by an expatriate man who accused his Egyptian wife of marrying another man, reports Al-Anba daily.
The complainant said he married the Egyptian woman and allowed her children with her first husband to live with them in the same house. She allegedly requested him not to disclose her marriage for fear of losing custody of the children.
A source revealed the husband suspected the wife and he was shocked when his stepson told him that his mother is not divorced.
The complainant told police he paid a huge sum of money as dowry.
Drug peddling couple:
Detectives from the Drug Control General Department arrested a 35-year-old Indian woman and a male compatriot for trafficking in marijuana, reports Al-Rai daily.
A security source said the officers received information about the activity of the Indian woman, a marijuana dealer. Her compatriot partner was arrested while selling an undisclosed quantity of marijuana to a secret agent.
The partner guided police to the apartment of the woman in Fahaheel where they found four kilograms of marijuana.
2 held with drugs:
Two Kuwaitis and a Bedoun were apprehended by Hawalli patrolmen in Rawda area in possession of sachets of illicit drugs.
A security source said the suspects abandoned their vehicle and tried in vain to run away on foot after the officers stopped them for checking. They were referred to Drugs Control General Department.
New e-passports:
Director General of the General Information Systems Department in the Interior Ministry Brigadier General Ali Al-Muaily disclosed a total of 65 new version of e-passports will be delivered by the end of this month, reports Al-Rai daily.
Al-Muaily revealed the 65 e-passports will be given to political leaders and members of the government who will review the new version, adding that about 60,000 e-passports will be delivered in mid-August to start the distribution in mid-September.
He added the ministry is currently working on a project for the renewal of driving licenses and passports of citizens, as well as the residency permits of expatriates, electronically through the ministry’s website.
He said the expatriates shall pay the fees and check with the relevant departments to put the sticker on the passport, stressing that this project will see the light soon, adding that fees and fines shall be paid through K-Net.
