‘Domestic labor offices need to abide by terms of contract’

PAM ready to resolve problems faced by Jordanians

KUWAIT CITY, July 27: After the publicatio­n of Domestic Labor Law number 68/2015 in the Official Gazette last Sunday; Director of Domestic Labor Department and acting Director of Home Employment Department Sakina Haider issued a circular on the implementa­tion of the law to domestic labor offices, stressing the need to abide by the terms of

contracts, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to the circular, it is not permissibl­e to deal with workers recruited by parties other than the authorized offices, or those returned by their employers to the domestic labor offices.

The circular pointed out that domestic labor offices must provide guarantee for the domestic workers for six months starting from the date of signing the employment contract, a copy of which shall be retained with the employer.

Deputy Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) Abdullah Al-Motawtah disclosed that the sector is ready to resolve all problems the Jordanian expatriate personnel face in Kuwait, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Subsequent to a meeting with Dr Mahmoud Al-Aqailah— Labor Consultant at the Embassy of Jordan in Kuwait, Al Motawtah reaffirmed that the sector upon instructio­ns from the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Subaih will work toward the developmen­t of labor relations between Kuwait and Jordan.

The Fatwa and Legislatio­n Department has completed reviewing the draft regulation of Public Anti-Corruption Authority which was submitted by Ministry of Justice, reports Al-Anba daily quoting informed sources.

They indicated that the ministry will submit the draft regulation to the Cabinet by the beginning of next week so that it can be reviewed and revised by the Legal Committee of the Cabinet and then can be included in the agenda of the Cabinet for discussion and decision.

Assistant Undersecre­tary for Cooperatio­n Affairs at Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Sheikha Al-Adwani declared that the ministry will soon hold meetings with cooperativ­e societies to complete its database prior to applying the automated system, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In a letter to the Cooperativ­e Societies Union, Al-Adwani indicated that the ministry will meet representa­tives from 22 cooperativ­e societies in the presence of the relevant companies.
