Samsung wearables segment grows with Gear Fit2 and Gear IconX
Regionwide partnership with Fitness First offers consumers unique bundle deal
KUWAIT CITY, July 27: Samsung continues its expansion in the fitness wearables market with the regional launch of the Gear Fit2 and the Gear IconX. Each product is designed with consumers’ fitness needs in mind, and includes features that provide users with precise tracking technology to monitor their fitness activity, in addition to a standalone music player. As part of the launch, purchase of either device entitles the buyer to a complimentary month of membership at Fitness First. Existing members can take home the Level U Wireless Headphones that feature 12mm speaker units delivering high-quality, clear sound through dual-microphone noise reduction and echo cancellation. The Gear Fit2 features an embedded GPS and a heart rate monitor (HRM) that offer accurate and robust fitness tracking and measurement, while providing instant feedback on the user’s workout. The Gear IconX is cord-free earbuds that can track fitness information and provide users with feedback on their running performance. Both the Gear Fit2 and Gear IconX are optimized to benefit users’ various fitness levels, whether they are training for a marathon or just as part of their daily exercise regime.

Featuring an ergonomic, sleek and slim design for comfortable everyday use, the Tizen-driven Gear Fit2 sports a Super AMOLED curved display with a 1.5 inch 311ppi high-resolution color touchscreen for easy fitness monitoring, or checking and responding to notifications. The embedded GPS and HRM sensors include the Auto Activity Tracking feature, intelligently identifying whether you are running, walking, cycling, or utilizing rowing machine or elliptical trainer.
The device also supports easy transfer of fitness data between S Health and other select fitness applications. With an internal storage capacity of 4GB, the Gear Fit2 is compatible with smartphones running on Android OS 4.4 and above with over 1.5 GB RAM. It’s available in three colors (dark grey, blue and pink) and two sizes — one for wrist sizes 125-170 millimeters and the other for wrist sizes 155210 millimeters.
The Gear IconX provides a lightweight, secure and comfortable fit with three different sizes of eartips and wingtips, and can be activated by simply placing the earbuds in the user’s ears. The smart earbuds also track data such as distance, speed, duration, heart rate and calories burned, easily syncing with S Health, with a Voice Guide feature that provides instant voice feedback on the user’s workout progress while providing a standalone music listening experience. With Bluetooth capability and an internal storage that can play up to 1,000 MP3s, users can simply tap or swipe the earbuds to easily control the music.
