Arab media festival kicks off in Jordan

AMMAN, Aug 23, (KUNA): The third Jordan festival for Arab media opened on Monday to discuss the challenges facing media and technical developmen­ts of tools.

Up to 700 experts and artists from the public and private sectors in the Arab world take part in the event, which runs until Thursday.

In an inaugural speech, Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Arab League’s Assistant Secretary General and head of Media and Communicat­ion Sector, said Jordan’s hosting of the event reflects the country’s keenness on the Arab media role, expressing her appreciati­on to Amman for organizing it for the third year in a row.

She added the code of ethics in media was a most prominent achievemen­t by the Arab League.

For his part, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Jawad Anani stressed the importance of hosting the festival, especially at a time when there is a move on both global and Arab levels to “combat risks of terrorism and the deviant thought”.
