Sharing Love outshine Al Wafi 88-87

Rivals thump Avengers

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 23: Martin delivered a 25-point dazzling performance Friday afternoon as Sharing Love outshone Al Wafi 88-87 in a tightly fought game at the 1st conference KBVAK basketball & Volleyball conferences at the Qadsiya Sports Club in Hawally.

The Sharing Love guard was 8 for 13 from the field and added six assists while his team mates ace forward James Carillo added 16 points and Glean pulled down 15 rebounds and added 10 points to his side’s slate in

Martin powered Love to build on their lead on 7-for-8 shooting in the third. He was 4 for 4 from 3-point range in the game totally. He made his first three shots, all from behind the arc during the first 3 minutes.

Martin stole the ball from Casuga and converted it into a breakaway layup, then intercepted a pass by Collado to set up another layup by Prado 13 seconds later. That sent the Love cruising ahead in the final stretch. Al Wafi attempted 9 free throws in the third quarter and made 4, but didn’t get to the line again until Collado converted one of two with 36 seconds left in the final quarter.

Martin’s layup and free throw sent Love surging again 4 points ahead. But Al Wafi scored a double two-pointer that gnawed their deficit to two points, then another point scored by Reyes further reduced the deficit to one point as the buzzer sounded, 87-88 for Sharing Love.

Meanwhile, in the second game of the series, EMS won by default against Gulf Spic Pirates who failed to show up for the encounter. The Barkadas team also won by default against Taxi Slashers who failed to turn up for the encounter between the two sides. EMS and Barkadas got twenty points apiece automatically awarded to them as a result.

The Zumba dance exercises which take place on the volleyball court saw both men and ladies attend in droves, taking advantage of the default games to extend their dances for about an hour.

And as the volleyball games kicked off, Rivals won 2-1 against Adik Avengers in the women’s volleyball series while Golden Warriors lost 0-2 to 5Links.
