Al-Hassawi to be president of Kuwait Football Association: sources
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 24: Sheikh Fahd Jaber Al-Ali is expected to be appointed president of the Kuwait Olympic Committee and Fawaz AlHassawi president of the Kuwait Football Association, reports Al-Rai daily quoting reliable government sources.
The decision is expected to be taken soon by the Public Authority for Youth and Sports during its Thursday meeting.
Sheikh Fahd Al-Ali is the current president of Kuwait Boxing and Weightlifting Federation, while Al-Hassawi is former board chairman of the Al-Qadsiya Sports Club before he bought the Nottingham Forest Football Club of England.
The President of Kuwait Karate Federation Sheikh Khalid Al-Abdullah was among the names of candidates that were floated for taking over the Kuwait Olympic Committee. However, he is said to have apologized in view of circumstances related to his work.
Meanwhile, an official at the Public Authority for Sports has lodged an incident report against Sheikh Talal Al-Fahad to clear his name over a decision to remove some files belonging to the authority.
A source said an employee of the authority prevented another employee from removing some files belonging to the authority for onward transfer to Sheikh Talal. He later reported the incident to officers at Nugra Police Station, and security operatives have started investigating the issue.
