‘Approved funds not enough for projects’

-

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 24: Assistant Undersecretary for Maintenance Engineering at Ministry of Public Works Mohammad bin Nakhi says the ministry may face a difficult winter season this year in terms of maintenance of highways and different areas in all governorates due to the refusal of Ministry of Finance to incorporate a number of relevant contracts in the current budget, reports Al-Qabas daily.

He lamented that Ministry of Finance has also reduced the budget by a significant amount compared to the budget demanded by Ministry of Public Works, adding that many locations within the country are in need of urgent maintenance and would worsen if not dealt with soon.

Nakhi revealed that Ministry of Finance has approved only KD 20.640 million for the ongoing and new projects of the sector in the current budget but this is not enough to cover the different needs of the sector.
