Call to hold security campaigns in areas ‘populated with bachelors’
MP urges Municipality to inspect old Bneid Al-Gar buildings
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 24: A number of MPs called for holding security campaigns in areas with high number of expatriate bachelors especially in Bneid Al-Gar, reports Al-Rai daily.
They warned about the increasing negative effects on the country’s social and security arenas and recommended establishing accommodations for laborers far away from family residential areas.
In this regard, MP Abdullah Al-Turaiji stressed the need for launching security campaigns in areas with large number of bachelors, indicating that there are a huge number of bachelors living in Bneid Al-Gar and many of them may not be holding valid residence permits.
He affirmed that he has great concern for the situation of expatriate bachelors but maintaining security of the country is of a higher priority. He suggested building cities far away from residential areas for laborers and providing them with all basic services.
Al-Turaiji said those who follow the laws of the country are welcome here but those who commit violations and carry out illegal activities must be confronted in all ways.
Meanwhile, Head of parliament’s Interior and Defense Committee MP Sultan Al-Lughaisam insisted that Ministry of Interior should pay more attention to the growing number of expatriate bachelors who live in certain locations within the family residential areas.
Deported
He stressed that any expatriate bachelor who lives in family residential areas must be deported especially those without valid residence permits and those who entered the country illegally.
Furthermore, MP Dr Abdulrahman Al-Jeeran said the houses where bachelors live are located near the embassies and give a very bad impression especially since those houses are very old and should be demolished.
He urged Kuwait Municipality to inspect those old buildings and take necessary steps to demolish them.
In addition, MP Abdullah Al-Mayouf said the origin of this problem is the visa traders and real-estate traders who benefit from the growing number of expatriate bachelors.
He called for constructing cities for laborers far away from the family residential areas for accommodating the expatriate bachelors.
Al-Mayouf highlighted the dangers that are associated with increasing number of expatriate bachelors such as drugs and alcohol.
