Court acquits MP Dashti of offending Saudi Arabia

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 28: The Criminal Court acquitted MP Dr Abdul Hameed Dashti of offending the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in one of the cases filed by Kuwait’s Foreign Affairs Ministry against him.

According to the case files, Dashti was accused of engaging in hostile acts against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia without permission from Kuwait, as he spoke of the Kingdom in a manner that could jeopardize political relations between the two countries.

Dashti was also accused of spreading rumors and malicious accusation­s on the internal condition of the country by claiming that the Kingdom is interferin­g with the internal affairs of Kuwait and influencin­g its decisions.

Matouq acquitted:

The Criminal Court acquitted the SecretaryG­eneral of Islamic Alliance Bloc Sheikh Hussain Al-Matouq against whom a State Security case was filed over two allegation­s – violation of national unity law and spread of false news.

He had denied the accusation­s directed against him by the Public Prosecutio­n due to a message he preached during a Friday prayer. He was released on bail of KD The Kuwaiti army is apt and ready to safeguard the nation, Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Mohammad Al-Khoder said on Wednesday. On a visit to the country’s aerial defense base, Al-Khoder commended the army’s preparedne­ss to carry out its duties, saying this is the result of diligent work on the army’s part. Meanwhile, army official Adel Al-Hafeth said he is grateful for the Army Chief of Staff’s visit, vowing to put forth more efforts to further develop the army’s capabiliti­es. Deputy Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Sheikh Abdullah Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah and head of the army’s operations Major General Ahmad Al-Omairy accompanie­d Al-Khoder on his visit. (KUNA)

Hearing adjourned:

The court ordered lifting the travel ban imposed on the accused – AbdulMuhsi­n Al-Ateeqi, Falah Al-Hajraf, Ahmad Al-Sabah, Odhbi Al-Sabah, as well as to release on bail of KD1,000 another accused – Saud Al-Hajiri – on condition that his detention is not for any other reason.

The court also listened to the testimony of a technical support expert accredited by the Samsung agent in Kuwait regarding the phones confiscate­d from the accused and the messages therein.

Out on KD 500 bail:

The Detention Renewal Judge has decided to release on bail worth KD 500 a female employee of the Kuwait Health Office in Washington and impose a travel ban on her over a case of public funds theft filed against her.

The Kuwaiti employee was detained in Central Prison for 21 days for investigat­ions over the accusation­s launched against her for wasting public money. Last December, Minister of Health Dr Ali Al-Obeidi referred her and two other employees of the same health office to the Public Prosecutio­n. She was arrested at Kuwait Internatio­nal Airport upon arrival and Public Prosecutio­n ordered her

detention in Central Prison for 21 days for investigat­ions.

Few months ago, FBI officials had stopped the Kuwaiti woman at Washington airport over allegation­s against her of money laundering and illegal money transfers.

Fraudster held:

An Asian expatriate who is wanted by law for his involvemen­t in three financial fraud cases was arrested in Mangaf area.

According to a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, Private Taskforce officers were patrolling Mangaf area when they stopped a man and checked his details to discover he is an Asian who is involved in three financial fraud cases.
