KUWAIT CITY, Sept 28: Ministry of Interior has completed preparing a security plan for the first ten days of the month of Muharram, which will start next week, reports Al-Rai daily quoting informed sources.

They said the implementation of the security plan will be carried out under the supervision of the Assistant Undersecretary for Special Security Affairs Major General Mahmoud Al-Dousari.

The sources explained that some officials from Ministry of Interior will meet the owners of Hussainiyats on Thursday, September 29 at the Civil Defense headquarters to reaffirm the pledges that the Hussainiyat owners have taken necessary steps which includes the importance of ensuring speeches and sermons do not contradict values of the society and principles of national unity. Ministry of Interior will also stress the crucial need to refrain from offending the leaders of the state and taking advantage of the religious event to gather citizens of the State of Kuwait.

They revealed that State Security Department, Criminal Investigations Department, Special Forces Department, Operations Department including Rescue Unit, Police Helicopter Unit, Police Dogs Unit and Civil Defense Unit, Public Security Department, General Traffic Department and General Department of Public Relations and Media Security will participate in the implementation of the plan and will represent Ministry of Interior.

The sources added that Kuwait Fire Service Directorate and Medical Emergency Department will also participate in the implementation of the plan but will represent other ministries.

They indicated that a main control room will be established as per the plan for ensuring perfect coordination among all the participating bodies and excellent performance, adding that five small control rooms will also be established in each governorate to follow up the security situations and send frequent reports to the main control room.

The sources said the plan stresses the need for liaison officers to coordinate between Hussainiyat owners and the control rooms to guarantee close monitoring and speedy response to any unwanted situations, adding that the Hussainiyat owners are also expected to ensure the surveillance cameras are working properly and inform the appointed liaison officers about any suspicious activity and security concerns.

The Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid Al-Sabah chairs the security meeting.
