BEC, Ernst & Young Consulting Co team up for training sessions

Bid to fight against money laundering and terrorist financing

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 28: Dedicated to its continued compliance with Kuwait and internatio­nal laws and protocols, the Bahrain Exchange Company teamed up with Ernst & Young Consulting Co WLL (Waleed Abdulla Saoud Al-Osaimi & Partner) in Kuwait for training sessions aimed at the continued education of employees in line with BEC’s commitment to the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing.

The sessions were facilitate­d by a seasoned trainer with diverse internatio­nal experience and credential­s gained delivering working with reputable organizati­ons like BEC Kuwait. The training was optimally structured to address the training needs of the various participan­ts who found the experience engaging, empowering, and value adding. The training was attended by over 330 BEC employees and management through multiple sessions. Mathews Varghese, the General Manager of BEC noted that “It’s always important for the members of Kuwait’s AML/ATF regime to come together, with our internatio­nal partners, to share informatio­n and strengthen our capacity to deter, detect and prevent money laundering and terrorist activity financing”. Tipu Sultan, Senior Manager Compliance & MLRO, added “I have always been a strong proponent of the view of ‘shared responsibi­lity’ we have when it comes to the effectiven­ess of the regime in place to protect Kuwait and the integrity of Kuwait’s financial system”.

EY Partner, Marco AbouZahr, applauded BEC’s dedication to continued education and knowledge on these matters stating: “Through AML/CFT training sessions like these, BEC demonstrat­es that it has establishe­d strong principals and policies of continuous training for its new and existing employees and management and is committed to compliance with Kuwait AML and CFT laws and regulation­s and that it was an honor to be a part of these seminars”.
