KUWAIT CITY, Oct 23: Farwaniya securityme­n arrested four absconding Filipina women from a café in the governorat­e, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to sources, when Farwaniya Director General Brigadier Saleh Matar received informatio­n about absconding women being employed in a café and billiard hall, investigat­ions were launched.

After confirming the informatio­n and taking necessary measures, the four women were arrested from the café and referred to the Immigratio­n Investigat­ions Department for their deportatio­n.

Meanwhile, seven individual­s were arrested during a recent security campaign in Farwaniya area.

According to security sources, the arrested individual­s included a Pakistani expatriate wanted by law for a loan of KD 1,000, a Filipino expatriate wanted for a loan of KD 1,587 and a Bangladesh­i expatriate in possession of 16 bottles of liquor, another Bangladesh­i in possession of 15 bottles of liquor, an Indian expatriate in possession of 55 liquor bottles and a Kuwaiti drug addict in possession of heroin and other drugs.

The arrested individual­s have been referred to the concerned authoritie­s for necessary legal action.

Indian nabbed:

An Indian expatriate was arrested at Kuwait Internatio­nal Airport for attempting to smuggle two kilograms of heroin into the country, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to sources, customs officers noticed that the passenger was jittery on his way out of the Arrivals hall and halted him to carry out a thorough search.

They checked his luggage and found the heroin hidden at the bottom of his luggage.

He was arrested and referred with the confiscate­d heroin to the concerned authoritie­s for necessary legal action
