Ooredoo marks Health Week with staff
Cooking contests, sports tournaments held
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 23: Ooredoo, Kuwait’s fastest network for 2016, concluded its Health Week activities for employees last Thursday. The week-long series of activities included seminars and competitions for all employees at Ooredoo’s head office. The program was aimed at raising awareness about nutrition, diabetes, general health in addition to a first-aid certification program and a blood drive.
Speaking about this event, Corporate Communications Senior Director at Ooredoo Kuwait Mijbil Alalyoub said: “We’re very happy to have held such an informative event for our employees. We work according to a year-long plan that includes a lot of activities and events focused on our employees, and this reflects the company’s investment in its staff, which stems from our core values of caring and connecting.”
The week activities kicked off with a day dedicated to raising awareness about nutrition, in which dietitian Wajd AlOthman gave a lecture about adopting a healthy lifestyle. This was followed with a lecture by sports coach Jamie Karehana, in which he discussed how cooking healthy food in addition to leading an active lifestyle can help people achieve their health goals.
The second day was dedicated entirely for women, and was started with a lecture delivered by Dr Latifa Al-Kandari from the Ministry of Health, who discussed breast cancer, its prevalence and the latest ways of dealing with it. Dr Sarah Al-Hammouri talked about osteoporosis in women, vitamin D deficiency, and polycystic ovarian syndrome.
On the third day, Ooredoo organized its annual blood drive in cooperation with the Kuwait Blood Bank, where all employees in the head office were invited to donate blood. This was followed by two lectures: a lecture about nutrition and whole food by nutrition coach Juna Alawadhi, and a lecture about Ayurveda by Dr Rameza Anwar.
The fourth day was dedicated to give staff essential training on first aid, in cooperation with the Emergency Medical Service department of the Ministry of Health. On the fifth day, employees were given informative lectures by Dr Ebaa Al-Ozairi from Dasman Institute for Diabetes, in addition to glucose level tests and consultations with health professionals.
Aside from the lectures, the program included a number of activities for employees, such as a cooking competition and sports games, in addition to a video game tournament.
