Drug firms at loggerheads
‘Shortage of antibiotics’
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 24: The ‘war’ among pharmaceutical companies has cast a shadow on the treatment of cancer patients in particular and patients in the intensive care units in general, while the medical warehouses have turned a blind eye to this plight, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The war among pharmaceutical companies has led to a severe shortage of antibiotic drugs, and drugs for chemotherapy.
This is a serious problem facing the doctors at the Hussain Makki Al-Juma Hospital for Specialized Surgery, the Badria Al-Ahmad Hospital and the National Bank Hospital for Children.
In contrast, hospitals and doctors have warned that the continued shortage of these drugs lack of the most basic medical equipment tools for cancer patient threatens a sharp deterioration in the health of patients, especially cancer patients, with low immunity.
Meanwhile, the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources has declared a state of emergency and taken preventive measures after the discovery of the bird flu cases in one of the Arab Gulf states, reports Al-Anba daily.
