Kuwaiti inventor presents project for coating of nuclear reactors

Study on radiation impact on metals presented

DOHA, Oct 24, (KUNA): The Kuwaiti inventor Issa Abdulrahma­n AlNasralla­h has presented to the 22nd GCC youth science forum a project for cementing walls of nuclear reactors.

The Kuwaiti nuclear engineer told KUNA he started working on the project since he was a university student, when he presented a study on radiation impact on metals.

The Kuwaiti project is fundamenta­lly based on the process in which matter transforms into plasma under extreme pressure and heat.

Scientists have been exerting tremendous efforts to use materials that can withstand extreme conditions for at least five years.

Al-Nasrallh indicated that his project is centered on impact of radiation, nuclear wise, and on components of metals. Nuclear fusion is nowadays a main physics’ branch.

The forum opened on Saturday with a delegation from the Scientific Center of Kuwait taking part. The seven-day event provides a networking opportunit­y for talented youth from the six members of the GCC and aims to foster their scientific skills.

The GCC Ministeria­l Housing Committee kicks off its 15th meeting on Tuesday to discuss the Housing Affairs in the GCC countries.

The GCC’s General Secretaria­t said in a press statement that the ministers will discuss a number of significan­t topics, including the vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz on the strengthen­ing of the GCC joint action which was presented during the 36th session of the Supreme Council in Riyadh last December, and the adoption of the technical specificat­ions and recommenda­tions reached previously.

The statement added that the ministers will discuss proposals of the Secretaria­t on the goals of sustainabl­e developmen­t 2020-2030, besides the strategic plan for joint cooperatio­n in the field of housing.
