Kuwait hosts seventh Islamic heritage meet

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 24, (KUNA): Kuwait hosts on Tuesday the 7th meeting of the Islamic World Heritage Committee, an affiliate of the Islamic Educationa­l, Scientific and Cultural Organizati­on (ISESCO).

The agenda comprises an internatio­nal seminar on immaterial heritage in the Islamic world. The Secretaria­t of the Kuwait’s National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) hosts the cultural events.

The three-day meeting will discuss requests and files submitted by the ISESCO member states on sites they want to add to the list of the Islamic World Heritage Committee, NCCAL said in a press release.

In addition, participan­ts will review a regular report from the organizati­on’s experts entrusted with preparing reports on the Israeli aggression on Al-Aqsa Mosque, and on Jerusalem.

They will also address potential steps to be taken following the recent UNESCO resolution reiteratin­g Jerusalem’s Islamic identity.

Further, the meeting will review findings on the Islamic intangible heritage, in a bid to prepare an ISESCO future strategy on the issue.

The statement noted that the heritage meeting and seminar are part of the “Kuwait Capital of Islamic Culture 2016” celebratio­ns.
