Kuwait activates MoU with Madrid
‘Transportation’
MADRID, Oct 25, (KUNA): Kuwait Undersecretary of Public Works Ministry Awatef Al-Ghunaim asserted Monday on activating a Memo of Understanding (MoU) signed by Kuwait and Spain in the field of transportation and infrastructure in 2014.
Al-Ghunaim made her comment to KUNA as she was visiting Spain in order to enhance communication cooperation between the two countries and support the bilateral relations and cooperation.
She said she met earlier with Spain Minister of State for Infrastructure and Transport and Housing Affairs Julio Gomez Pomar to activate the transportation infrastructure MoU between the two countries.
Al-Ghunaim added the meeting covered ways of cooperation and identifying the most important projects and missions assigned to the Spanish Ministry of Public Works.
Al-Ghunaim noted that her visit aims to benefit from the exchange of information, expertise and training in the field of road construction and administrating ports and airports, and to explore the possibility of government’s advisors in the establishment, operation and management of airports.
Al-Ghunaim pointed out that her ministry would execute the largest development project in Kuwait, the new International Airport (Terminal 2), along with a number of construction projects and future projects, new roads, health and other projects.
For his part, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Spain Sulaiman Al-Harbi said activating the MoU would help cooperation in the field of transport infrastructure and represents a new era of distinguished relations between the two countries.
Iraq’s Basra Investment Commission on Tuesday urged Kuwaiti businessmen, investors and firms to attend a forthcoming conference to explore investment opportunities in the southern Iraqi province.
The commission is now coordinating with the Kuwaiti side for a wide scale investment conference to be held in Kuwait, most likely late in November, which will see up to 200 opportunities offered to investors, director Ali Jasib old KUNA.
The idea of the conference emerged during a visit by Basrah governor Majid Al-Nasrawi to Kuwait earlier in 2016, he said.
The potential investment opportunities cover agriculture, industry, housing, education, and infrastructure.
Jasib noted that the governorate has been receiving investment requests from Kuwaiti firms, the last of which from the Bukhamseen Holding Group, in partnership with the Iraqi Al Shalal Al Azraq Group, to build a housing complex near the Basrah International Airport.
