Means to ‘enhance’ role of parliaments pondered
KPC to sponsor NUKS confab in London
GENEVA, Oct 25, (KUNA): Kuwait National Assembly Secretary General Allam Al-Kanderi said Monday that the upcoming meetings of the Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments (ASGP) will address ways to enhance services of legislative institutions.
The Kuwaiti parliamentary official made his remarks to KUNA on the sidelines of his participation at the 135th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly.
The meetings will also address general-secretariats’ experiences with enhancing the administrative and technical performances of their staff, in addition to parliamentary committees’ roles, powers, particularly in international negotiations, and parliamentary procedures, Al-Kanderi added.
He pointed out the Kuwaiti parliamentary diplomacy in defending national, Arab, and Islamic causes, and its impact on backing Kuwait’s official foreign policy in serving humanitarian and national causes.
The meetings will also review ideas and proposals regarding keeping parliaments in pace with the rapid changes in technology and communication such as improving e-services for members and the public, and focusing on the vital role of social media networks in raising parliamentary awareness, Al-Kanderi noted.
Meanwhile, Deputy Managing Director for Relations in the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), Sheikh Faisal AlJaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah asserted on Tuesday KPC’s keenness to harness its potential for the service of all young people and embrace their creative ideas which will flow into the oil sector’s interest and serves the interests of the national economy.
Sheikh Faisal stressed in a press statement that KPC attaches great attention to the young Kuwaiti cadre, stemming from its belief that the youth is the real wealth of the country.
He added that KPC will sponsor the 52nd conference of the National Union of Kuwait Students (NUKS) (UK, Ireland Branch) between Oct 2830 in London.
He stressed that KPC was keen to sponsor this event to shed light on any discipline needed by KPC and the oil sector as a whole as well as providing a full explanation of the job opportunities available for young people in the oil sector, according to the human development plans adopted by the sector.
