Mosal requests inclusion of KD 300m in budget

Additional KD 10m eyed to take care of senior citizens

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 2: Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has requested for inclusion of KD 300 million in its new budget for the social support provided annually by the Department of Family Welfare to the deserving citizens and an additional KD 10 million for the care of senior citizens.

According to informed sources, there are about 1,500 cases for which social aid was suspended following the implementation of new regulations which require a medical report to prove the inability of non-Kuwaiti husbands of Kuwaiti women to work and provide for the family.

They said the ministry has started providing some Kuwaiti women with forms to be presented to the hospitals for issuance of medical reports that are accredit-

ed by the ministry.

The sources explained that, “Spending on senior citizens will not exceed 10 percent of the total cases after verification of the senior

citizens’ need for support based on the prevailing conditions which were set in this regard. There are no exceptions in this regard”.
