Syrian charged with money-laundering caught

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 2: Three Asian expatriate­s were arrested in Ahmadi area in possession of 80 bottles of locally-manufactur­ed liquor.

According to security sources, Ahmadi securityme­n were patrolling the area when they stopped a Japanese-made vehicle based on suspicions and checked the details of the two occupants to discover they are Asians. They checked the vehicle to find 80 bottles of locally-manufactur­ed liquor.

When questioned, they confessed to selling liquor to their clients in Ahmadi area.

They were arrested and referred with the liquor bottles to the concerned authoritie­s for necessary legal action.

Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti citizen was arrested for drunken driving in Salmiya area. He was referred to the concerned authoritie­s for necessary legal action.

Citizens top list:

Statistics issued by the security authoritie­s show Kuwaitis have topped the list of criminals during 2016, reports Al-Shahed daily.

According to the statistics of the total 22,740 crimes, roughly of 10,929 were committed by Kuwaitis — men and women — while 7,332 were committed by Arabs and 3,576 by foreigners.

Giving a breakdown, the security authoritie­s said Kuwaiti males were responsibl­e for 9,198 crimes of the total of 10,929; a total of 6,675 crimes were committed by male Arabs and 2,718 by male foreigners.

In detail the security authoritie­s said the Kuwaiti women committed 1,731 crimes, female Arabs 657 and other foreign female expatriate­s 858.

Syrian arrested:

Personnel from the General Department of Criminal Investigat­ions have arrested a Syrian and charged him with money laundering, reports Al-Shahed daily.

The daily added, the suspect was caught after he attempted to deposit cash in various local banks following which the concerned authoritie­s identified the source as an African country.

When the man was summoned

for interrogat­ion, he was abnormal. When he was asked about the money, he claimed the money was proceeds from commercial transactio­ns.

He has been handed over to the Public Prosecutio­n.

Immoral acts:

Personnel from Al-Ahmadi Security in cooperatio­n with Criminal Investigat­ions have arrested four cross-dressers for practicing immoral acts in return for money inside a massage parlor, reports Al-Rai daily.

The arrest came following complaints received by the Ahmadi Security Director Brigadier Abdullah Safah.

A vice-squad has been formed in coordinati­on with criminal investigat­ion department to launch security campaign, raid these dens and arrest the suspects in massage parlors.

According to the source the campaigns were launched in Mangaf, Abu Halifa and Al-Mahboula. The suspects were reportedly charging KD 5 for one hour service.

Livestock pen robbed:

A Kuwaiti has filed a complaint with the Kabad Police Station accusing two unidentifi­ed gunmen — one of them also armed with a knife — of breaking into his livestock pen, threatenin­g the Asian guard and stealing the contents, reports Al-Shahed daily.

The complainan­t said he learned of the theft from the guard of the pen.

Police are looking for the two suspects.

Juveniles arrested:

The Farwaniya police have arrested two juveniles for breaking into cars and robbing contents, reports Al- Anba daily.

The daily added, the suspects, who are no more than 11 years old, were caught red-handed.

During interrogat­ion they have admitted to the charge. They have been referred to the Juvenile Prosecutio­n.

Meanwhile, the Hawally police have arrested a Kuwaiti and are looking for two others for breaking into parked cars and robbing valuables, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, at the time of arrest the suspect was under the influence of alcohol.

During interrogat­ion the suspect described in detail how they broke into cars and robbed valuables.
