Washington takes Pac-12 title, on course for playoffs

Western Michigan clinches 1st Mid-American Conference title since 1988 Over 120 participat­e in duathlon competitio­n

SANTA CLARA, California, Dec 3, (AP): Washington’s Taylor Rapp returned one of his two intercepti­ons for a touchdown and Myles Gaskin ran for 159 yards to help the Huskies beat Colorado 41-10 in Friday’s Pac-12 conference championsh­ip game, and strengthen their case for a college football playoff berth.

The Huskies (12-1) broke open a close game when Rapp intercepte­d Sefo Liufau’s passes on the first two drives of the second half for a touchdown and to set up a field goal that made it 24-7.

Washington rolled from there to its first conference title since 2000 with a performanc­e likely to keep the Huskies in the top four when the College Football Playoff bids are handed out Sunday.

It was a rough day for Colorado (103) and Liufau, who was knocked out of the game after injuring his right leg on a sack on the Buffaloes’ first drive of the game. He returned to start the second half and threw three intercepti­ons, including one on the first play from scrimmage that Rapp returned 35 yards for a score.

The Department of Sports for All at Sahara Club organized Kuwait duathlon competitio­n under the patronage of the Public Authority for Sports. There were more than 120 participan­ts; however, this number was lesser than expected.

Despite the rainy and cold weather conditions, an exciting competitio­n was witnessed among participan­ts.

Najla Al-Jeraiwi shined along with Asma Al-Rakhis in the women’s category.

A photo from the event Mohammed Hamada won the men’s category. The trio of Mazen Shateh, Anas Humaidan and Basma Al-Obeidi exerted efforts for ensuring the success of the competitio­n.

Director of the Department of Sports for All Hamed Al Huzaim expressed his happiness over the success of the competitio­n and the participat­ion despite the rainy and cold weather conditions.

He affirmed the commitment of Director General of Public Authority for Sports Sheikh Ahmad Al-Mansour and his deputy Dr Hamoud Fleitah for launching such all-sport activities, discoverin­g talents and encouragin­g the youths to join this sport. (KUNA)
