Kuwait Olympic Sports Day participan­ts honored

Kuwait Sea Sports Club honored the participan­ts in the annual Kuwait Olympic Sports Day which will be organized, in coordinati­on with Kuwait Olympic Committee, on Saturday.

Various sports federation­s and specialize­d clubs are expected to attend the Sports Day with Kuwait Olympic Committee Secretary Khaled Al-Menayye in attendance.

Among those present at the honoring ceremony were Chairman of the club Major Fahad Al-Fahad, Deputy Chairman Ahmad Alghanim, Secretary General Khalid Mohammed Alfodra and a number of board members.

Speaking at the ceremony, Alfodra expressed satisfacti­on over the level of cooperatio­n between the club and Kuwait Olympic Committee, particular­ly their initiative to organize the annual Sports Day.

He added he is proud of the sea sports contestant­s and their remarkable achievemen­ts in GCC, regional and internatio­nal championsh­ips.

In related story, Kuwait’s Sports Day concludes Thursday and the winning teams will be honored in the closing ceremony slated for Saturday at Sheikh Jaber Internatio­nal Stadium with the attendance of Minister of Informatio­n and Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud.

Meanwhile, Head of Security and Safety at the stadium Khaled Bonashi affirmed the stadium and all its domains are ready to host the Sports Day. He added the stadium is open to the people of Kuwait not only for football events; but also for social, cultural and other sports activities.

Bonashi praised the idea of holding the Sports Day that witnessed huge participat­ion in various sports and other activities. “This is a wonderful initiative from Kuwait Olympics Committee and it will have positive returns for all participan­ts,” he added.

A big crowd of fans are expected to start arriving in the stadium at 2:00 pm on Saturday through gates two and 11, whereas gate one is designated for officials and VIPs.
