KUWAIT CITY, Dec 24, (KUNA): Six people were killed and several others wounded in a yacht fire off the southern resort of Al-Khairan on Saturday, the country’s fire department said.

10,000 drug pills seized:
Customs officers at Kuwait International Airport thwarted an attempt by a Bangladesh national to smuggle 10,000 narcotic pills known in the local market as “ecstasy” and considered the most dangerous illicit drug.
Security sources said the Bangladeshi expatriate was returning from his country via Dubai when he aroused suspicion of customs officers upon arrival to Kuwait airport. The officers went ahead and conducted thorough search on him and recovered the contraband carefully hidden in a secret compartment inside a box of vegetables.
He was referred to concerned authorities for necessary legal measures.
Woman dies in accident:
A Kuwaiti woman in her 20s perished and her companion with two youths in another car sustained various degrees of injuries in a horrifying two-vehicle collision on King Fahad Expressway, Saturday.
Security sources said the Operations Room of the Ministry of Interior received report about the incident, and a team of policemen, paramedics and firemen from Hawalli Brigade was deployed to the scene to deal with the situation.
The injured people were rushed to Mubarak Hospital by paramedics for treatment. Security operatives have since opened an investigation to determine the cause of accident.
