Foreigners in Kuwait ‘enjoy’ good living, excellent medical services

‘Kuwait for Peace, Egypt for Love’ tourism fest inaugurate­d

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 29: Director of Domestic Workers Affairs at Ministry of Interior Mohammed Al-Ajmi insists that expatriate workers in Kuwait enjoy good living conditions and excellent medical services, reports Al Anba daily.

In his speech during a ceremony organized at the United Nations House in Mishref to mark the Internatio­nal Migration Day, Al-Ajmi explained that Kuwait has issued several laws and legislatio­ns to organize the domestic workers sector and improve the living conditions of domestic workers. Law No. 86/2015 was aimed at issuing regulation­s to ensure domestic workers receive all their rights and that their conditions are improved. This in turn have resulted in organizati­on of the processes to ensure they are brought into the country only through licensed and accredited offices and concerned authoritie­s.

Al-Ajmi said, since the applicatio­n of executive bylaws of the new domestic law, a sum of KD 13,150 of salaries of domestic workers has been recovered. About 25 complaints, which were not solved by the Department of Domestic Workers at the Directorat­e General for Residency Affairs, have been referred to court.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Ambassador to Egypt Mohammad Saleh Al-Thuwaikh and a plethora of Egyptian senior officials including Tourism Minister Yahia Rashid inaugurate­d late Thursday “Kuwait for Peace, Egypt for Love” tourism festival to back Egypt economy and boost bilateral ties.

This event reflects the strength of and the depth of KuwaitEgyp­tian relations at the official and people-to-people levels, Al-Thuwaikh said in his inaugural speech.

He added that the festival organizati­on materializ­es His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s initiative to support Egyptian economy.

He wished the festival would help revive the Egyptian tourism sector which has been facing serious challenges in the past years. He thanked Governor of South Sinai Governorat­e Khaled Fouda and Kuwait’s Future Group for facilitati­ng the organizati­on of the event.

For his part, Fouda expressed gratitude for the Kuwaiti initiative and lauded the EgyptianKu­waiti relations, describing it as a role model for Arab relations. KUWAIT CITY, Dec 30: Kuwait General Department for Customs has said investigat­ions are underway to know how the containers ‘left’ the Shuwaikh Port Container Terminal without the customs procedures being carried out, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The department said in a press statement the case of disappeara­nce of the containers has been referred to the Public Prosecutio­n.

The department pointed out, the concerned officials have taken all legal and administra­tive procedures to nail the suspects.

The statement pointed actions taken by the concerned authority include opening administra­tive investigat­ions, informing the judiciary and referring those guilty to trial.

This is in addition to tackling the security lapses.
