KUWAIT CITY, Dec 30: Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Essa Al-Kandari stressed the importance of cooperation between the parliament and the government for solving the housing issue and ensuring serious work aimed to provide suitable homes for citizens, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In his press statement, Al-Kandari said the housing issue is considered as a priority for many citizens.

He indicated that this matter received interest from the previous parliaments in the past few years, insisting that this interest and concern must continue through implementation of solutions in order to ensure the provision of houses to the highest possible number of citizens. Al-Kandari affirmed the government’s initiative to find plans and strategies that would ensure citizens receive housing welfare for which many have been waiting for ages, and to reduce the waiting period to not more than five years.

He said the parliament is expected to pass legislations and draft laws to expedite the solution of this crisis and reduce the waiting period.

Al-Kandari commended the plans and efforts exerted by the State Minister for Housing Affairs Yasser Abul in handling this issue and engaging in productive cooperation with the concerned committees previously, which saw the allocation of 12,000 housing units annually to citizens.
