Kuwait vows support to Riyadh, Gulf, coalition in Yemen’s war

Two perish as car rams into truck, catches fire

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 30: The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah visited Saudi Arabia to follow-up the participat­ion of Kuwaiti forces in the campaign titled “Restoratio­n of Hope”.

He was accompanie­d by the Deputy Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Abdullah Nawaf AlSabah and a number of officials from the Military Defense Council.

They met the Saudi Deputy Crown Prince, the Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Amir Mohammad Bin Salman in the presence of the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Sheikh Thamer Al-Jaber. During the meeting, they discussed the ongoing situations in the region and the bilateral ties between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid conveyed regards of the political leadership of Kuwait and affirmed unlimited support of Kuwait to Saudi Arabia, other Gulf countries and the ArabIslami­c coalition in its operation in Yemen.

After the meeting, Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid went to the southern region of Saudi Arabia where he visited the Kuwaiti forces participat­ing in the “Restoratio­n of Hope” campaign. He was accompanie­d by the Undersecre­tary of the Saudi Ministry of defense Mohammad Al-Ayesh and the delegation. The Commander of South Military Zone Major General Abdullah AlFaqari received Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid and officers of the Kuwaiti forces.

At the first operationa­l zone, Major Abdullah Al-Ajmi gave a brief explanatio­n about the mission of the Kuwaiti forces to Sheikh Mohammad AlKhalid. The minister then went to the second operationa­l zone where he was received by the Commander of King Khaled Air force Base Major General Sulaiman Bin Ali Al-Fayez and the participat­ing Kuwaiti force.

According to security sources, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received informatio­n about the accident, securityme­n, paramedics and firefighte­rs rushed to the location. They saw the vehicle on fire and two Kuwaiti citizens lying on the ground near the burning vehicle. Paramedics examined them to discover they had died. They were referred to the Forensics Department.

Firefighte­rs extinguish­ed the fire and securityme­n launched investigat­ions to determine the cause of the accident. Both the sports car and the tow truck were removed from the road and the traffic was organized.

Meanwhile, two vehicles collided and toppled on Damascus Street, resulting in injuries and fractures to five Kuwaiti citizens. Paramedics referred the citizens to the nearest hospital while securityme­n launched investigat­ions to determine the cause of the accident.

Visa forgers held:

A Kuwaiti citizen and three expatriate­s were arrested for forging work permits.

In a press release issued by Ministry of Interior, the General Department of Public Relations and Media Security explained that when the Investigat­ions Department at the Directorat­e General for Residency Affairs received informatio­n about a company involved in forgery of work permits, a team was formed for investigat­ions.

The team coordinate­d with a number of authoritie­s and confirmed the forgery of salary certificat­es for completion of the company’s transactio­ns. Further investigat­ions revealed that the number of employees registered under the company is 241.
