Over 900 illegal billboards ‘removed’ by Municipali­ty

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 30: Violations Removal Section at Kuwait Municipali­ty last month launched campaigns against restaurant­s, shops, posters and encroachme­nts on state property, which resulted in the removal of over 900 billboards and other violations on state property. Inspectors also collected KD 4900 in fines issued for various violations, including public hygiene.

Director of Capital Municipali­ty Amaar Al-Amaar stated the campaigns covered all parts of Capital Governorat­e.

Head of the section for removing violations Abdullah Jaber also said the committee works tirelessly to take out encroachme­nts on state property, and they have since dealt with 35 real estate violations and 5 approvals and 95 citations against foodstuffs storage with warnings.

The committee also posted 15 stickers on abandoned vehicles and issued 40 violations for other offenses, removed 978 election posters, closed down 8 shops and referred 222 violations to the Legal Affairs Department.

Security officers arrested two citizens in Ahmadi governorat­e in possession of drug substances.

Apparently, the officers were patrolling Fahaheel area when they spotted a Japanese-made vehicle at the parking lot of a school. To their surprise, the driver accompanie­d by another person tried to run after sighting them but they managed to chase and arrest them.

The officers went ahead to conduct a search in the car and recovered three bags full of drug substances. They were referred to relevant authority for necessary action.
