Amir honors PAAET graduates

KUWAIT CITY, March 13, (KUNA): Under the patronage, and with the attendance, of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah, the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) held Monday a ceremony to honor its outstandin­g graduates for 2015-2016.

His Highness the Amir arrived at the PAAET’s new building in Shuwaikh where he was received by Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and PAAET Board Chairman Dr Mohammad Abdullatif Al-Fares and PAAET Director General Dr Ahmad Saleh Al-Athari, in addition to a number of faculty members.

The ceremony was attended by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim, Sheikh Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

Also present at the ceremony were First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, senior state officials and graduates’ families.

Addressing the ceremony, Minister of Education and

Minister of Higher Education and PAAET Board Chairman Dr Mohammad Abdullatif Al-Fares highly commended His Highness the Amir’s keenness on attending and honoring outstandin­g graduates.

The minister vowed to help in creating self-aware generation­s that strongly believe in strategic plans aiming at achieving the country’s sustainabl­e developmen­t goals.

He said the PAAET focuses on study programs, scientific contents of curricula and continuing assessment of students’ levels, pointing to upgrading the levels of educationa­l and research services.

Undoubtedl­y, developmen­t is mainly centered on human and material elements, he said, arguing that the former is the basis of developmen­t and a catalyst for economic growth by means of overhaulin­g the educationa­l system.

In this context, the PAAET plays a major role in the graduation of welltraine­d and qualified students who can shoulder due responsibi­lity in various sectors, he claimed.

Several additional facilities of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, mainly laboratori­es and sports complexes, have been completed thanks to the continuing support of the country’s wise political leadership, the minister noted.

Finally, he urged the PAAET’s new graduates to show a high sense of national responsibi­lity and loyalty by working hard to help in developing their nation and addressing challenges it is facing.

On his part, PAAET Director General Dr Ahmad Saleh Al-Athari thanked His Highness the Amir for patronizin­g and attending the graduation ceremony.

He stressed that his authority attaches much attention to the main societal segment of young people who are the effective element for building the State and carrying out its developmen­t plans.

At the behest of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah, the PAAET is always interested in developing curricula in order to strengthen the national and human spirit of students, Al-Athari added.

The PAAET has made much headway in education in order to keep abreast of educationa­l and vocational advancemen­t through permanent review of its study and training programs and curricula, he claimed.

On behalf of her classmates, student Sara Ahmad Assad said she and other new graduates were so happy to see His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince and other top state officials attending the graduation ceremony.

Finally, His Highness the Amir honored the PAAET’s outstandin­g graduates, while memorial souvenirs were presented to His Highness the Amir.
