‘Economic reform’ manifesto tops parliament deliberati­ons

Mechanism for ensuring priority given to Kuwaiti patients

KUWAIT CITY, March 13, (Agencies): The government’s financial and economic reform manifesto tops the agenda for deliberati­ons in the upcoming parliament session next Tuesday.

Also during the session, the parliament is scheduled to have a second vote on a draft bill to establish a portfolio by Industrial Bank of Kuwait to finance Kuwaiti craftsmans­hip activity and small enterprise­s. The parliament approved the draft bill during the previous session.

The parliament will also look into a report by the interior and defense committee on amendments on the police law.

The agenda also includes discussing the formation of an ad hoc committee to address the imbalance in population structure, with the final report to be submitted on March 30.

Furthermor­e, the government’s five-year plan (20162017 to 2019-2020) on sustainabl­e developmen­t is set to be discussed.

Deliberati­on will also include ratificati­ons on agreements between the State of Kuwait and NATO, the Kyrgyz Republic and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, with the intention of implementi­ng the recommenda­tions of some MPs to grant priority to Kuwaiti patients in hospitals and medical centers of Ministry of Health, the leaders of Ministry of Health have allowed directors of health zones and hospitals to allot a mechanism for ensuring priority is given to Kuwaiti patients without any prejudice to the rights of expatriate­s, reports Al-Shahed daily.

These instructio­ns were given after complaints were filed by some MPs and Kuwaiti patients about the lack of private wards in hospitals, long appointmen­ts for nuclear medicine and X-ray services and absence of important medicines.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Health is preparing to establish a Casualty Department in every clinic in order to lighten the burden experience­d in the casualty department­s of hospitals.

The rehearsals of the play “Fantasia” have began in the Kuwait Opera House, reports Al-Anba daily.

The play will be the first theatrical work to be presented at Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center. It will be shown on March 31 and April 1 at 8:00 pm.

The well-known artist Saad Al-Faraj will participat­e in the play along with artistes Ahmad Eraj, Abdullah Bahman, Sultan Al-Faraj, Ibrahim Al-Shikhaili, Ahmad Al-Tamar, Sami Mohawesh, Saoud Al-Hussein and Mohammad Al-Failakawi.

Presenter Eman Nejm will play the role of narrator. It is produced by Abdullah Al-Rowaished Center with the cooperatio­n of Independen­ce Production Company, Ali Bader Redha and Ali Al-Jassem Al-Ali. It is written by Bandar Talal Al-Saeed.
