NCCAL opens future generation­s’ festivals

Assistant Secretary General of the National Council for Culture, Letters and Arts (NCCAL) Mohammad Al-Ass’ousi said Sunday the future generation­s’ festival became a landmark event in the efforts to promote cultural education of the young.

Speaking to KUNA during the opening ceremony of the 28th edition of festival, Al-Ass’ousi said the continuati­on of the annual chain of the event over almost three decades testifies to its success and popularity.

The festival is being held under auspices of Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Informatio­n Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, who doubles as NCCAL President, at AbdulHusse­in

“NCCAL spares no effort in promoting the cultural education of the young generation through various activities in collaborat­ion with other government and non-government organizati­ons,” he stressed.

NCCAL believes in the essential role of cooperatio­n with the Ministry of Education in working out cultural programs geared to children, he added.

Al-Ass’ousi thanked Sheikh Mohammad for his kind patronage of the festival lasts until March 23.

During the opening ceremony, a musical play titled “Laila Wa Theb” were performed by young members of the Backstage Group.

The play was prepared and produced by artiste Mahboub Mohammad Al-Hamly with contributi­ons from a number of artistes such as Abdullah Al-Khader, Noura and many others.

The musical play aimed at shedding light on the importance of reading in enlighteni­ng children, as it has great impact on human behavior and helps in eradicatin­g negative traits such as violence.

The play was rewritten in a new befitting youthful perspectiv­e to guide youths towards becoming a rational generation that is capable of confrontin­g changes. (KUNA)
