Municipali­ty toils to clear rain puddles

The extensive operation launched by Kuwait Municipali­ty to remove the rainwater, which had accumulate­d in several places throughout the country as a result of the heavy rains that the country witnessed last Friday, is ongoing. A total of 75 tanks and 150 workers are being used to carry out this operation.

The Public Relations and Media Department of Kuwait Municipali­ty explained that teams from the Department of Cleanlines­s and Road Works have been working relentless­ly in all governorat­es to remove the rainwater that had accumulate­d on several streets, roads and open yards in various parts of Kuwait.

The operation also involved removal of fallen trees such that a total of seven truckloads of trees have so far been lifted from various areas, roads and bridges. The Cleaning Department collected 300 garbage bags of wastes from Mubarakiya area. A total of ten

Citizens held for drugs:

A Kuwaiti citizen was arrested in Ahmadi area for using drugs and possessing drugs and drug parapherna­lia.

According to security sources, Ahmadi securityme­n were patrolling the area when they suspected a jeep that was parked by the roadside with an occupant.

Securityme­n approached the vehicle and checked the details of the driver to discover he is a Kuwaiti citizen in his 30s. Based on suspicions over his disoriente­d state, they checked him to find drugs and drug parapherna­lia.

He was arrested and referred to the Drugs Control General Department for investigat­ions.

Meanwhile, a Syrian expatriate was arrested in Capital Governorat­e in possession of Captagon pills.

The Public Relations and Media Department urged the public to contact the municipali­ty through its hotline number 1844448 to report cases of accumulate­d rainwater or anything else that needs immediate removal.
