There is light at tunnel end
Good people in society
In the midst of gloom and frustration which we are experiencing because of the political and administrative corruption, not to mention the daily headaches caused by the Muslim Brotherhood group affiliated members and the related hassle in the National Assembly, desperate attempts have been made to make gains and sweep their scandals under the carpet.
Nonetheless, there are a lot of noticeable efforts which have been exerted and are worthy of being highlighted.
We asked many people for their opinion about the efforts that have been exerted by Ahmad Al-Manfouhi in the Kuwait Municipality. By the way, I had written earlier on this subject.
We must also not forget the sincerity of Ahmad Al-Mousa who works at the Public Authority for Manpower and the efforts exerted by Abdul Karim Taki and Abdullah Al Zamami in the development of the Public Authority for Industry, which is suffering from serious problems.
However, all these people have been exerting all out efforts to correct situations in their respective institutions.
We must also commend the efforts exerted by the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and her relentless efforts to develop a Ministry that is experiencing rampant corruption.
Let us also laud the good efforts made by the Center for Child Evaluation & Teaching (CCET), about which I will write soon because this institution is not receiving proper funding and is semi-forgotten in spite of its educational and humanitarian effectiveness.
We should also pay tribute to the specialized consultants who work relentlessly to treat the neurological diseases. It is because of their efforts Kuwait today has reached the highest level of treatment at the Arab and regional level in the treatment of epilepsy using the latest methods and scientific techniques.
I mentioned this on the sidelines of a Kuwaiti-Lebanese conference which was held in Beirut with the same advanced level of management reached by the Epilepsy Treatment Unit at Ibn Sina Hospital under the management of Dr Maher Orabi and able supervision of the head of Neurology Department at the Ibn Sina Hospital Dr Jassem Al-Hashel.
Thanks to this team and a group of distinguished physicians, Kuwait has become one of the most advanced countries in the treatment of this disease, which is evidenced by the remarkable achievements since the establishment of the unit four years ago.
Since then the unit has gained recognition from the global hospitals for its ability to provide the best treatment without the need to send patients for medical treatment abroad.
The unit has performed more than 1,700 CT (computed tomography) scans for patients with epilepsy, ranging from 1 to 5 days, and was able also to diagnose patients who needed surgery.
Some of them were operated in Kuwait, while others were sent abroad for accurate surgery and returned to Kuwait for recuperation.
The Ibn Sina Hospital has also planted a large number of batteries in the body of patients suffering from epilepsy and provided medical care to thousands of other cases using the latest technology and adopted globally scientific methods.
We should also mention the smooth and civilized transition of the leadership of the Kuwait Investment Authority, the world’s oldest sovereign wealth fund, which managed more than $2 trillion of our funds, after Farouk Al Zanki became the new Managing Director. And Bader Al Saad, former managing director has become a member of the Board of Directors of the Authority, after having played his role faithfully and sincerely for more than 13 years.
In a wonderful attempt to bring joy to life, LOYAC will broadcast the ‘World Peace’ show from the ancient French theater of Olympia to Kuwait on April 8, a show combining various civilizations, led by world-renowned artiste Naseer Shamma with a group of most proficient musicians, who will take us on a outward journey drawing boundaries outside time and space.
