Kuwait women’s cultural society hosts Australian media personnel

KUWAIT CITY, April 6: Kuwait Women Cultural and Social Society recently hosted at its headquarters in Khalidiya area a press delegation from Australia comprising several journalists and press figures working for notable media houses in Australia on the start of its series of familiarization visits to Kuwait, reports Al-Rai daily.
At a meeting with members of the Kuwait Women Cultural and Social Society, the delegation discussed the situation of Kuwaiti women, challenges and other issues they endure.
Board members of the society, Ghada Al-Ghanim and Dr Fatma Al-Huweil gave an insight on the society’s journey since its inception and the role it plays in various aspects of women’s life.
In a statement, Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) presenter Emma Alberici affirmed gaining impressive information on her visit contrary to what they imagined about Kuwait and the role played by women in its society.
Alberici indicated among the most important topics the Australian press delegation aspires to know is the issue of women rights and gender empowerment, besides knowing the part played by the country in fighting against terrorism.
Deputy Director of News and Current Affairs at Australia Nine Entertainment Co Grant Williams hopes to understand the future of the country after the era of oil, and its level of interest in using renewable energy.
In a press statement, board member of the society Ghada Al-Ghanim declared she presented to the visiting delegation the activities of the women’s society and projects executed so far. She explained the delegation was surprised with the condition, level of development, and social role played by Kuwaiti women.
Al-Ghanim indicated foreign delegations are keen on visiting the Kuwait Women Cultural and Social Society due to its range of activities concerning women and ways of improving their way of life and dealing with challenges, affirming the society is serious about women rights advocacy.
