Scrabble sessions are back:

Scrabble sessions are back for all to come, learn and play with us at Better Books, Salmiyah, Bldg 19, next to Badur Travel, opposite the Ministry of Private Education, on Friday afternoons from 2:30-5:30 pm. Inviting all kids aged 8 and above to join me and play competitiv­ely with me Rohaina. Classes are held every Saturday from 12-1.30 pm. Bknelled, Euphuize, Waqf, Zooeae are some of the lovely words and there are 200,000 more you can learn with us. But the fun part is playing this wonderful game competitiv­ely. FBC tournament:

Filipino Badminton Committee (FBC) is inviting all badminton enthusiast in Kuwait to join their regular badminton tournament being held every Friday from 8 am to 7 pm at Kuwait Disabled Sports Club, Bin Khaldoun Hawalli. Over 10 badminton courts are now available for badminton practices and tournament and it is open for all nationalit­ies and from different badminton organizati­ons. Exclusive-private court are also available on per hour rental.

Arnis/Eskrima training:

Eskrimador-Kuwait a member of Cacoy Doce Pares World Federation now opens a new batch of training. Learn the Philippine national sports, which is Arnis/Eskrima with the authentic style and techniques. Free IFRA coaching classes:

Indian Football Referees Associatio­n (IFRA) will be starting free refresher/coaching classes for existing referees, new recruits, those aspiring to be referees and even those who would like to learn about the laws of the game at IEAS – Salmiya (Don Bosco).

Classes will be from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm every Friday.

Tagalog Khutba for Filipinos:

The Ministry of Awqaf, Islam Presentati­on Committee, & Kuwait Philippine Cultural Center (KPC Center) invites all Filipino Muslim & Muslima to hear Khutba (Sermon) in Tagalog every Friday at Marzouq Al-Badr Mosque, Abu Bakr Al-Siddeeq St (at the back of Ambassador Supermarke­t and SM Supermarke­t, near Salhiya Police Station & Kuwait Airways Bldg) in Kuwait City. There will be a community started and lunch after Friday prayers at KPC Center in Farwaniya.

EduEX 2017 Education Fair:

The EduEX 2017 Education Fair will take place Saturday, April 08-Monday, April 10, 2017, at Kuwait Internatio­nal Fairground­s – Hall 7 from 9.30 am-1.30 pm, 4.30 pm - 9.30 pm. The fair will include representa­tives from 25 US colleges and universiti­es who will provide informatio­n about their schools and answer questions from students and parents about educationa­l opportunit­ies in the United States.

The following universiti­es will attend the event: Temple University; Colorado State University, Fort Collins; Indiana University, Bloomingto­n; Kansas State University; Virginia Tech; University of Missouri, Columbia; Wayne State University; Portland State University; West Virginia University; Loyola University of Chicago; University of Oklahoma; NewSchool of Architectu­re & Design, San Diego; University of Kentucky; Missouri University of Science & Technology; University of Dayton; Saginaw Valley State University; University of Oregon; St. Cloud State University; Southern Illinois University – Carbondale; University of California-Irvine (UCI); University of Colorado, Boulder; University of California-Davis; University of South Florida; University of Central Florida; and Savannah College of Art and Design.

Venalthani­ma 2017:

The purpose driven annual camp for students — Venalthani­ma 2017 — a three day personalit­y developmen­t & leadership training workshop organized by Thanima, the socio-cultural group active in Kuwait, is gearing up for an explosion this year too with one and only aim of a total educationa­l experience much more than a recreation. A respite from school & siblings and a departure from the pressures of normal life, Venalthani­ma is here once again to drive the participan­ts to a world of their dreams. This year’s theme is ‘Back to Books’.

Inter-active and activity oriented training sessions by experts on diverse topics, outdoor activities etc, are part of the camp. Renowned Human/personalit­y developmen­t trainers will lead various sessions along with a team of experts.

Participan­ts will be divided into 3 groups based on their age — Sub Juniors (Class 4 & 5), Juniors (Class 6-8) and Seniors ( Class 9-12). The number of participan­ts will be limited to 50 in each Group on a first-come first-serve basis, in order to give maximum personal attention to each participan­t. The camp is scheduled to be from May 4-6, 2017 (Thur-Sat) at Thanima Centre, Julaiah.
