‘Single Window’ office proposed for new commercial projects
MoCI minister Al-Rawdhan planning to issue decision
KUWAIT CITY, April 10: Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalid Al-Rawdhan is planning to issue a decision which will involve informing the “Single Window” office in advance about any new commercial project, such that the “Single Window” office becomes the only body that is responsible for establishing companies, reports Al-Rai daily.
The minister, through decision No. 209/2017, exclusively allocated the “Single Window” office to receive and execute all requests for establishing all types of companies, and to issue commercial licenses from end of April 2017.
This decision obligates the “Single Window” office to complete the transactions for establishing a company within three days and to issue relevant licenses within five days after receiving approvals from all concerning state bodies.
According to sources, the “Single Window” office receives requests for new licenses and studies them. They are then handed over to the Minister of Commerce and Industry and then referred to the committee responsible for classifying activities.
That committee then checks the list of all Gulf and international commercial activities in order to decide whether the requested activity is included in the list or not. The committee then decides whether to approve the request or not.
The sources indicated that there are other conditions also which must be met to approve a requested activity.
