Gulf govts to start hiring top officials in bid to introduce VAT
KUWAIT CITY, April 11: An expatriate who comes to Kuwait on government contract, transfers his visa to the private sector, works there for few years and then transfers it back to the public sector will be allowed to transfer his visa to the private sector again without the need for a supreme committee to decide if the transfer happened before the decision to prevent such transfers was issued three years ago, reports AlAnba daily quoting a reliable source from the Public Authority for Manpower.
He affirmed that administrative decisions are not enforced retroactively, revealing that such cases are transferred through the department to which the company belongs, and are treated like the transactions for transfers within private sector companies.
Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs at Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Abdulaziz Shuaib indicated that violations related to public donations are still under investigations. He affirmed that the Public Prosecution received the viewpoint of the ministry supported by relevant documents, adding that 7,169 donation files were discovered to be in violation.
Meanwhile, recruitment experts in the GCC countries have said Gulf governments will start hiring executive officials specialized in government taxation to introduce the Value Added Tax (VAT) next year on goods and services, reports Al-Anba daily.
In this context, Chief Recruiter at the Copper Fetish Company in Dubai Trevor Mervi said the initiative will lead to new opportunities for tax executives and accountants in the entire region, noting Kuwait is currently in need of 400 employees — among them tax experts.
A knowledgeable source from the Public Authority for Telecommunications and Information Technology disclosed the possibility of installing fifth generation networks within five years to boost up the Internet speed to reduce delay in data transfer and entry, and to promote industrial development through robot sciences and intelligence, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The same source added 5G networks could help humans operate and control all domestic appliances via mobile, and Kuwait is among the countries that can easily benefit from 5G due to its level landscape and infrastructure.
