‘Pay woman for loss in mishap’
Citizen acquitted
KUWAIT CITY, April 11: A Kuwaiti civil court ordered payment of compensation worth KD 3,000 to a Kuwaiti woman for the damages she sustained following a traffic accident.
She had filed a lawsuit demanding compensation, insisting that the defendant unintentionally caused serious injuries to her when he drove his car without paying attention and thereby blocked the lane she was driving on, causing the vehicles to collide and then her vehicle to topple. She sustained broken limbs from the accident.
The plaintiff counsel Lawyer Zainab Al-Ramzi presented documents including medical reports and layout of the accident. She proved that the defendant was in the wrong and that he should compensate her client.
Detention extended:
The Public Prosecution decided to extend detention of a Kuwaiti citizen for further investigations over a video clip in which he was seen attacking a traffic officer while the latter was performing his duties.
The incident occurred as the traffic officer attempted to stop the citizen, who at the time was attacking an Asian man because of a traffic accident which had occurred in one of the corners in Ahmadi Governorate. The citizen suddenly turned against the police and attacked him, inflicting several bruises on his face.
Citizen acquitted:
The Criminal Court acquitted a citizen of allegedly joining and fighting with the Syrian militant group Ahrar Al-Sham.
The Public Prosecution charged the citizen of perpetrating hostile acts against a foreign country (Syria) without permission from authorities and joining an outlawed organization to receive training on the use of ammunition and destruction of military artilleries. The Public Prosecution insisted the actions of the citizen exposed Kuwait to war and could have damaged political relations.
The militant group spreads its principles of deposing political regimes in the Arab world by crumbling its social and economic order.
