Kuwait plans for two oil refineries UAE’s healthy kidney awareness campaign

KUWAIT CITY, April 11: The State of Kuwait is all set to establish two refineries at a cost of KD 5-8 billion to process crude oil locally, reports Al-Anba daily.

The daily quoting a reliable source from Kuwait Petroleum Corporatio­n (KPC) said the project is within the strategic plan of Oil Sector, which extends to 2040.

Kuwait aims to increase its refined energy by two million barrels on the advent of 2035 to raise its capacity to 1.4 million barrels after the completion of Al-Zour Refinery and the Green Fuel Project, the source noted.

NEW YORK, April 11: Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Founding Chairman, Al Habtoor Group took part in the UAE Healthy Kidney 10K Run in Central Park in New York on Sunday April 9, 2017. The race, in honour of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Founder and President of the United Arab Emirates, benefits the Healthy Kidney Foundation. Now in its 13th year, it was started to promote education and awareness of kidney health and kidney disease.

The Al Habtoor Group has sponsored the race for two years. The first male and female winners to cross the finish line were awarded $10,000 each. In addition, a $30,000 Zayed Bonus, courtesy of the Embassy of the UAE was put forward for the first man to break the time of 27:35, and the first woman to finish the race in under 30:44.

Khalaf Al Habtoor said, “I am proud to sponsor the Healthy Kidney 10K Run in New York. It is for a great cause in memory of a great leader, Sheikh Zayed. The race brings together many different nationalit­ies for a very worthy cause. The atmosphere in Central Park was amazing. People got the opportunit­y to witness Emirati hospitalit­y.”

The Chairman was joined by several high profile Emiratis including Lt General Mohammed Helal Al Kaabi and Brigadier General Ismail Alawadhi, UAE Defense Attaché to the United States. Lt General Al Kaabi is head of the Sheikh Zayed aHealthy Kidney 10k committee.

There were 14,000 registered runners in the 13th Annual UAE Healthy Kidney 10K Run. However, 30,000 people participat­ed on the day.

Earlier in the week Khalaf Al Habtoor visited a children’s hospital in Washington DC where he met with children suffering from kidney diseases. He was given a tour of the facilities to see the groundbrea­king research and developmen­t centre. It concluded with a visit to the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Washington DC.
