‘Jamal Abdul-Nasser Street, western part of 5th R. Road serve as support for dev of road system’

Eng Al-Hissan with Minister Mutawwa visit project sites

KUWAIT CITY, April 15, (KUNA): Assistant Undersecre­tary for Roads Engineerin­g Sector in the Ministry of Public Works Eng Ahmad Al-Hissan disclosed that two road developmen­t projects – Jamal Abdul-Nasser Street and western part of the Fifth Ring Road – serve as support for the developmen­t of the road system in the country.

Al-Hissan was quoted as saying during his visit to the project site with Public Works Minister Eng Abdul-Rahman Al-Mutawwa that 20 percent of the western part of the Fifth Ring Road has been completed and the cost reached KD108 million (approximat­ely $340 million).

He explained the project aims to serve the residents in areas along the western part of the road such as Ardhiya, Firdous, Sulaibiya, South Doha and Qairuwan.

On the western part of Jamal Abdul-Nasser Road, Al-Hissan confirmed completion of 69 percent of the project and the cost has reached KD35 million.

He added the project’s objectives include increasing the capacity of the road which is currently being built and to reduce traffic jams and the accident rate.

He further went on to say that the field tour was aimed at following up projects in order to determine the level of accomplish­ment and the latest developmen­ts, in addition to encouragin­g those working on the projects to be more efficient and dedicated in order to complete their work within the specified period.
