Hunt for ‘diabetes-hit’ girl

‘Yard’ issues appeal

KUWAIT CITY, April 15, (Agencies): The Scotland Yard police have issued an unusual appeal to help trace a nine-yearold girl, believed to be Kuwaiti, whom doctors believe is in need of urgent medical treatment.

According to hospital sources the family went to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington on Sunday and reportedly gave the hospital staff false address.

The Metropolitan police were contacted by staff at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, west London, after the sick girl went to the hospital with a man and a woman, believed to be her parents, and the family left before the child could receive treatment.

The girl appeared to have Type 1 diabetes with a high blood sugar count and there was danger of she falling into a diabetic coma if not treated immediately, the police said.

Her parents reportedly told the medical staff her name was Mashael Al-Dosari, but detectives are unsure whether this is her real name because the family has provided a false address.

The sources said the parents the girl and a second child — a boy in a pushchair — arrived at the hospital at about 5:42 pm on Sunday and left at 7:44 pm.

Scotland Yard police believe the family could be from Kuwait. The family is believed to have told medical staff that they had travelled to the UK so their son could receive hospital treatment, but police said inquiries had established that this may not be the case.

“It is not known when the family entered the country and inquiries continue with other agencies,” Scotland Yard said.

“Given the circumstances, the detectives are urgently seeking to trace the young girl in order to receive medical treatment.”
