Panel hires only 28 teachers from Jordan

MoE committee set to return from Egypt

-

KUWAIT CITY, April 17: The committee affiliated to Ministry of Education and in charge of overseas recruitment of teachers has returned to Kuwait from Jordan after hiring only 28 male and female teachers out of the 86 teachers the ministry had intended to hire for meeting the requirements of the 2017/2018 academic year, reports Al-Nahar daily quoting informed sources.

They revealed that the hired teachers will teach English and French languages.

The sources indicated that a similar committee that had travelled to Egypt for recruitment purpose will return soon.

They explained that it is possible the committee could have failed in hiring the required number of teachers, which will force the ministry to focus on hiring locally in the coming phase in order to compensate the shortage of teachers. If not, the ministry will find itself in an embarrassing situation in the coming academic year.

Meanwhile, a similar committee is set to leave for Palestine by end of this week to interview applicants who can teach some specific subjects.

The sources indicated that the ministry is likely to face shortage of teachers next year, adding that the reasons the teachers are rejecting to work in Kuwait include limited salaries for teachers which are no longer good enough to cover the living costs.
