Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim
arrives in Washington. WASHINGTON, April 17, (KUNA): Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim on Monday arrived in Washington, leading a delegation to take part in the Global Parliamentary Conference, organized by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB), April 17-18.
Upon arrival, Al-Ghanim was received by Kuwaiti Ambassador to the US Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and embassy officials and diplomats.
The top Kuwaiti parliamentarian will deliver a speech at the conference, and will also meet with President of the WB Group Jim Yong Kim, the IMF Deputy Managing Director Tao Zhang and several international economic and financial experts on the sidelines of the event.
The Global Parliamentary Conference is the Parliamentary Network’s flagship event, co-organized by the Parliamentary Network on the WB and IMF.
The event brings together some 200 Parliamentarians from the WB and the IMF member countries, partner parliamentary organizations, in addition to officials from the two leading financial institutions. Participants will have the occasion to hear about the most recent work of these organizations and discuss pressing issues in international development.
Meanwhile, Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Suleiman Al-Jarallah Monday left for Russia to attend the fourth round of political talks between Kuwait and Russia due in Moscow on April 17-19.
Al-Jarallah’s visit comes at the invitation of the Russian President’s Special Envoy for the Middle East and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
The Kuwaiti delegation included Assistant Foreign Minister for Europe Affairs Ambassador Waleed Al-Khubaizi and Assistant Foreign Minister for the Deputy Foreign Minister’s Office Affairs Ambassador Ayham Al-Omar.
