Gang of visit visa Jordanians caught stealing from faithful

Pakistani selling ‘goodwill’ amulets to maids nabbed

KUWAIT CITY, April 17: Officers from the General Criminal Security Department arrested two Jordanians for stealing from laborers in Shuwaikh Industrial Area.

This came after a Palestinia­n filed a complaint at Shuwaikh Police Station that some unknown persons stole KD 800 from him while he was praying inside a mosque in Shuwaikh Industrial Area.

Acting on the complaint, the officers embarked on a thorough investigat­ion which led to the discovery that a gang of five Jordanians entered the country on visit visa to engage in such illegal activities. The officers arrested two of the gang members – one of whom was nabbed at the airport in an attempt to leave the country.

During interrogat­ion, the suspects told police that three of their accomplice­s already left the country. They said they planned to steal from worshipper­s and ransack vehicles.

The officers found cash amounting to KD 2,000 in the possession of the two suspects whereas the other three gang members took some stolen money with them.

Pakistani arrested: Securityme­n from the Criminal Investigat­ion General Department arrested a Pakistani for using black magic and tricks for Asian housemaids in exchange for KD 50.

According to a security source, the suspect receives a large number of Asian housemaids in his house in Sharq where he performs black magic and tricks for them to ensure their sponsors treat them well at a fee of KD 50. When the officers raided his apartment, they found magic tools and other related items.

Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti found magic tools in Al-Qasser Park in Jahra so he informed a religious person who verified the items.

3 Iranians held: Three Iranians sneaked into the country from Boubyan Island via sea, reports Al-Shahed daily.

According to security sources, when Subbiya Police Station received a tipoff about three indi-

viduals who sneaked into the country illegally via sea, the State Security Department was immediatel­y notified.

An extensive manhunt was launched to arrest the trio, and the State Security team eventually apprehende­d one of the suspects. During interrogat­ions, it was discovered that the suspects are Iranians.

The operation to arrest the remaining suspects is under way.

Traffic crackdown: During a security campaign in downtown Kuwait City around the Ministries Complex, the personnel from the General Traffic Department are said to have issued scores of citations and withdrawn 15 car registrati­ons from vehicles parked in ‘No Parking’ zones, reports Al-Rai daily.

The security campaign was organized upon instructio­ns from the Assistant Undersecre­tary for Traffic Affairs at the Ministry of Interior, Director-General of Traffic General Department Major-General Fahd Al-Showei’a to strictly apply the traffic laws on all.

The source said the campaigns would continue against those who violate the traffic laws, particular­ly those who park their vehicles in ‘No Parking’ areas that is the cause of traffic congestion.

Women caught drunk: Personnel from Hawally security patrols have referred two young Kuwaiti women for drinking alcohol and insulting a police officer on duty, reports Al-Rai daily.

The ‘drunkards’ were caught at a police checkpoint in Hawalli. When the police asked the woman behind the wheel to pull over for violating a traffic law and demanded to see their Civil IDs, he found them abnormal and at this point they insulted him.

During interrogat­ion at a police station, they admitted to attending a party and drinking alcohol.

Indian couple caught: An Indian couple has been detained for interrogat­ion and charged with negligence after their child fell to her death from the third floor apartment in Mahboula, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, the parents were taken into custody after they rushed the lifeless body to the Adan Hospital.

During interrogat­ion the parents denied the charge of negligence but later admitted to leaving the child alone in the house. According to the daily the infant was less than a year old.
