Damaged roads, gravel cause of accidents
KUWAIT CITY, April 20: Surveillance cameras installed outside a house in Andalous area helped in discovering a thief who had been stealing from vehicles parked in front of houses.
According to security sources, a Kuwaiti citizen was shocked when he left his house to discover the window of his vehicle broken and several items were stolen from it. He immediately checked the records of the surveillance cameras installed in front of his house and saw the suspect who pretended to be a street cleaner to commit the theft.
The citizen notified the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior after which securitymen rushed to the location, examined the vehicle and collected evidences including the surveillance records.
Investigations have been launched to find and arrest the suspect.
Security sources revealed that several theft cases were recorded lately at Andalous Police Station against an unknown suspect.
Study concludes: The team tasked to regulate the labor market has presented results of a study on work permit-related fees to Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh, in addition to the schedule for implementing new fees for expatriate workers, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting a reliable source
The source said the team also revised conclusions on the proposal to specify minimum wage.
The source added the team has edited a questionnaire about labor market requirements for private companies, indicating that results of the poll will be released by the Central Statistics Bureau.
He went on to say the questionnaire aims to identify problems that employers face when they hire Kuwaitis.
Meanwhile, the source disclosed the government intends to lay down a national privatization strategy based on the new economic reform document,.
According to the source, the concerned governmental team has completed a number of feasibility studies, adding that five official bodies have been approved for privatization including Kuwait International Airport, telephones, postal service, Ministry of Water and Electricity (power generating plants), Kuwait Ports Authority and the governmental publishing office. He added the team has conducted initial evaluation of these institutions.
The source said the team met senior officials at the Ministry of Water and Electricity, as well as the Ministry of Information undersecretary and assistant undersecretary for Postal Service Affairs.
Cause of accidents: About fortyeight per cent of the accidents are caused as a result of the inability and failure of the Ministry of Public Works to contain the problem of flying gravel and lack of supervision when the road projects are being carried out, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting reliable sources.
The sources pointed out citizens
have been complaining about the potholes which reveal the extent of negligence and lack of coordination with the General Traffic Department.
The sources also said 30 percent of these accidents have caused deaths and others caused permanent disabilities and led to the damage of thousands of cars.
Diesel thieves busted: Three expatriates of Asian and Syrian nationalities were arrested for stealing diesel from oil sites and storing it in specialized containers inside a livestock pen in Kabad area, reports Al-Shahed daily.
After the suspects were arrested, they confessed during interrogations that they work for a company owned by a citizen which has a contract with Kuwait Oil Company (KOC).
They revealed that they have been stealing diesel from the oil facilities of KOC and storing it in the livestock pen.
They led detectives to the livestock pen in Kabad area. Detectives then discovered that the Kuwaiti citizen has been exporting the diesel overseas using falsified documents. He sells the diesel at higher prices in Asian countries.
When the detectives looked for the citizen at his house, they realized that he went into hiding. Investigations have been launched to find and arrest him.
The three arrested suspects have been referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.
