Bangladesh­is in Kuwait celebrate Bangla New Year – 1424

With the patronizat­ion of Bangladesh Embassy and associatio­n of Bangladesh­i expatriate­s in Kuwait arranged a daylong program on the occasion of Bangla New Year 1424 with great enthusiasm and festivity.

The program was organized in Abbassiya Touristic Park in Kuwait on Friday, April 14. The program was inaugurate­d by HE S.M. Abul Kalam, Ambassador of the People’s Bangladesh to the State of Kuwait with the cutting of ribbon at 10:30 am and His Excellency, the Ambassador visited ‘Pita Uthsab’ and Panta Ilish (festival of homemade sweets, cookies and delicacies). His Excellency, the Ambassador delivered his short speech to the audience; in his speech he said that the event for celebratin­g the Bangla New Year, known as Mangal Shobhajatr­a, is organized by the Bangladesh expatriate­s in Kuwait. The procession on Pohela Boishakh – the first day of the Bangla New Year has got recognitio­n of the United Nations Educationa­l, Scientific and Cultural Organizati­on (UNESCO) as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The members of Bangladesh­i expatriate­s in Kuwait took part in the cultural show and they performed at the different events. The performers rendered folk, modern, chorus, spiritual and patriotic songs, short drama, dance, etc which enthralled the audience.

Apart from the above, some games were also arranged for the children and women in the venue which added colour to the event. His Excellency also thanked to all Bangladesh­i expatriate­s in Kuwait for participat­ing at the colorful program.

Finally he thanked the government and people of the State of Kuwait for their permission to arrange the program and continuous support for the Bangladesh­i expatriate­s in Kuwait.
