KUWAIT CITY, May 24: In a fast move to ensure that some leaders of the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood— the Islamic Constitutional Movement (ICM) retain their leadership and supervisory positions in the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, lawmakers of the group have directed statements against the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Al-Bari, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily quoting a source said the lawmakers accuse the minister of giving absolute power to Undersecretary Fareed Amadi, and have vowed to grill the minister if he continues to remove members of the movement from their positions.

He stated the intrigue between Amadi and leaders of ICM started when former Undersecretary Dr Adel Al-Falah occupied the position while Yaqoub Al-Sane was the minister

He maintained Amadi has removed several members of the movement — among them assistant undersecretaries and directors, and a few of them are now in leadership and supervisory positions. He stressed Al-Falah was the one who convinced Al-Sane to refer ICM members who were accused of financial misappropriation to the Public Prosecution Department.

Lawmakers

He reaffirmed ICM lawmakers are now resolute and ready for confrontation, and have geared up oversight functions. The lawmakers are said to have taken the decision when they got wind of the plan to reshuffle the ministry in a process that is likely to show remnants of ICM figures the way out.

The source revealed the officials in question hinted the lawmakers to act fast and mount pressure on the minister to reduce the prerogatives of the undersecretary, indicating ICM is still eyeing the Minister of Awqaf slot to ensure control of the sector, even if it means forgoing grilling to reach a compromise with the government.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director of Human Resources at the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) Engineer Khloud Al-Shehab has said the first phase of the automated labor link program with Egypt is complete, reports Al-Anba daily.

Al-Shehab pointed out that a delegation from the Ministry of Labor in Egypt visited Kuwait recently to take part in a training course related to the automated labor link program between Kuwait and Egypt. She noted Egypt has since requested a period of three months for the launch of the program so as to transfer relevant data to

the authorized system, and set the mechanism of classifying professions and job titles.

She stressed the automated link will be restricted to the affairs of Public Authority for Manpower, indicating other official bodies such as Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue using the present system.

She stated the intention of Public Authority for Manpower to activate the automated link between Kuwait and other countries, as part of its plan to deal with visa trading. She reiterated all rented buildings of the Public Authority for Manpower have been evacuated.
