ICSK Khaitan inducts its New Senate for 2017-18
The Indian Community School Kuwait-Khaitan conducted the prestigious investiture ceremony of the members of the School Senate 2017-18 on Thursday May 18, 2017. It was a solemn occasion where the young students were all prepared to don the mantle of leadership and discharge the responsibilities entrusted upon them by the school. To inculcate the leadership qualities in students and to give them a feel of leaders and a sense of responsibility the new “Senate” is formed every year. It is only fair that the students, the descendents of the greatest democracy in the world exercise their franchise in electing their Senate members. The Investiture Ceremony is when these elected members take their oath pledging the allegiance to the school.
The Senate consists of the President, VicePresident, Sports Captain, Asst Sports Captain, Arts Club Secretary, Asst Arts Club Secretary, Student Editor, Asst Student Editor. This year there is also a nominated Junior Senate.
There are also the House Captains and Asst. House Captains of the four Houses of the school viz. Shanti, Seva, Sahyog and Santosh.
The investiture ceremony started with the recitation of the verses from the Holy Quran followed by the national anthems of Kuwait and India.
On this auspicious occasion, ICSK, Khaitan was delighted to have an eminent personality, Dr Salah Al-Sharhan, Vice-President for Academic Affairs at ‘Gulf University for Science and Technology’, Kuwait as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by Mohsin Rakhangi the Director of E-Learning, Center of Excellence at Gulf University for Science and Technology. Also present from the Board of Trustees of ICSK were Vinukumar Nair, Hon Vice-Chairman with many a well-wishers and parents.
Light symbolizes knowledge which is the source, the enlivener and the illuminator of all knowledge. The school motto being — “from darkness to light” the traditional lamp was lit by the dignitaries. The Principal K.G. Shirsath welcomed the gathering cordially.
The members of the Senate were administered the oath of office by the Vice-Principal Ravi Ayanoli. They then received their badges from the Chief Guest Dr Salah Al Sharhan while their proud parents also staged with them.
